It has been so long since I have posted! I had finally felt like I was getting this blogging thing. Now I haven't posted for so long, I have had to force myself to sit down today and write this post...but I want to share everything that has happened in the last few months!
I knew in May that I was moving to a new school district and I was going to be teaching second grade. I had even made myself a new blog to get ready for the new year. Over the summer I read books, reviewed second grade standards, and searched out second grade blogs to get ready. I even deleted a bunch of first grade blogs from google reader (I had something like 150 blogs and wasn't able to keep up anymore). I was all proud of myself for trying to get organized! I moved into my new classroom, got all unpacked, and was planned for the first week...then, 4 days before school started, I was called into the office and told that the numbers for second grade were too low, and the numbers for first grade were too high, so I was being MOVED TO FIRST GRADE! Needless to say, I was overjoyed. I love teaching firsties, but making a change like that, 4 days before school starts, was overwhelming!!!
I won't go into all the details, but the amount of changes has been crazy. My class is all students who are new to the school, so we have all had to learn how the school runs. I have wanted to blog so badly, but most weeks, it is all I can do to plan and keep up with a new reading and math curriculum. Plus, our district was awarded a science and technology grant, so there are tons of requirements to fulfill for that. In the last couple of weeks I finally got to the point where I felt that if I don't start reconnecting on the blogs, I never will.
So, here I am...I am not going to try to attach pictures to this post or it will never get published. I have gotten so much inspiration from all you bloggers out there and I am rebuilding my blogger list again.I can't wait to share with you all the fun things we are doing!
So...
Have you heard of Tux Paint? I got this idea from Learn 360, a science resource we have. Tux Paint is a free paint program, similar to Kid Pix. It is easy to use and we will be using it to make pumpkin glyphs during work station time.I will post pics later this week!
Well, thanks to everyone for listening. Have a great week!
My school used to have Tux Paint. We really liked it and it was easy for the kids to use. What an adventure you're having with all these changes! Nice to have you back blogging.
